Private firearms instruction for Fort Lauderdale residents
Fort Lauderdale is Broward County's seat and largest city, with a dense mix of downtown high-rises, waterfront neighborhoods and a large boating community. Delray Firearms Training provides private, NRA-certified firearms instruction for Fort Lauderdale residents, taught one-on-one by Dan Ribacoff. Lessons are scheduled by appointment, seven days a week, and the training location is confirmed when you book.
Most students who reach out from Fort Lauderdale fall into one of three groups: someone who has never handled a firearm and wants to learn properly before buying one; someone who already owns a firearm, keeps it in a drawer or safe, and has never been shown how to run it under any kind of pressure; or someone pursuing a Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License who wants training that is genuinely useful rather than a rubber stamp. All three are welcome, and all three start the same way — with safety and fundamentals.

Scheduling a lesson in Fort Lauderdale
Lessons run by appointment, seven days a week, with early morning and evening sessions often available. When you call, we'll cover what you want to work on, your experience level and how much time you have, then confirm a date, a time and the training location.
What you're training with shapes the session. A first handgun lesson is built around controlled, close-range work, while rifle and carbine instruction needs longer distances and is scheduled accordingly.
What a first lesson looks like
- Pre-lesson conversation. Your background, goals and any concerns.
- Safety block. The four universal rules and facility-specific commands.
- Manual of arms. Loading, unloading, chamber checks and malfunction clearing with an unloaded firearm.
- Dry fire. Grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger press.
- Live fire. Close targets, one round at a time, correction after each string.
- Debrief and practice plan. What to work on before the next session.
Don't own a firearm? That's common and it's not a problem. Training firearms are available, and taking a lesson before you buy is one of the smartest things a new Fort Lauderdale gun owner can do — you'll find out what actually fits your hand instead of guessing at a counter.
Florida concealed carry for Fort Lauderdale residents
Florida requires applicants for a Concealed Weapon or Firearm License to demonstrate competency with a firearm, which our course satisfies. Applications are processed through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and can be submitted at regional offices or, in many cases, at participating county tax collector offices. Because rules and fees change, always confirm current requirements with the state before applying — but the training portion is straightforward, and you'll leave with your certificate the same day.
